The 2013 Poll Results Post: "That's fantastic, and scary, and weird!"

Thanks to everyone who answered the 2013 fkficfest/[community profile] fkficfest game survey! Raw results are here on LJ and here on DW. Combined, the tally is:

  1. Will you write for FKFicFest 2013?

    • 6 (60%) Definitely

    • 4 (40%) Probably

  2. FKFicFest has always been an "exchange" (compatible preferences matched with individual prompts). On FKFic-L, games were "challenges" (everyone replied to a common prompt). Which style would be best for FKFicFest 2013?

    • 9 (90%) Exchange

    • 1 (10%) Challenge

  3. FKFicFest has always had a minimum story length of 1,000 words (as in the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”). What should be the minimum story length for FKFicFest 2013?

    • 9 (90%) 1,000 words

    • 1 (10%) 800 words

  4. Should writers be permitted to add together the word counts of multiple shorter stories to reach the game’s minimum? (For example, two separate 500-word stories adding up to a 1,000-word minimum.)

    • 3 (30%) Yes

    • 7 (70%) No

  5. What is the best *month* in which to have the FKFicFest 2013 stories *due*?

    • 5 (50%) July

    • 3 (30%) August

    • 1 (10%) September

  6. Of these choices, which is the best *date* on which to have the FKFicFest 2013 stories *due*? Pick *three*. (Please check your calendar!)

    • 1 (04%) 07/13

    • 6 (21%) 07/20

    • 5 (18%) 07/27

    • 5 (18%) 08/03

    • 2 (07%) 08/10

    • 2 (07%) 08/17

    • 2 (07%) 08/24

    • 2 (07%) 08/31

    • 1 (04%) 09/21

    • 1 (04%) 09/28

    • 1 (04%) 10/05

  7. FKFicFest has always given two months between sign-ups/assignments and the due date. What is the best length of time in which to write for the 2013 game?

    • 8 (80%) 2 months

    • 2 (20%) 3 months

  8. FKFicFest has always released its stories over time (1 or 2 per day). Some ficathons unveil all their stories at once. Which method is best for FKFicFest 2013?

    • 9 (90%) Continue releasing over time.

    • 1 (10%) Change to releasing all at once.

  9. In 2012, we posted all the stories on the AO3 and announced them individually on both LiveJournal and Dreamwidth. Is that the way we should play again in 2013?

    • 10 (100%) Yes

  10. In 2012, we invited visual artists to participate (allowing writers to choose to opt out of being matched with visual artists). However, none chose to play. Should visual artists be invited to participate in 2013 (same rules as 2012)?

    • 6 (60%) Yes

    • 4 (40%) No

At this time, please plan on an exchange-style game with a late-July due date. Expect a schedule announcement by April and please consider spreading the word among your friends and fellow FK fans. As in previous games, plan on a sign-up period, then a bit over two months to write, and finally a dynamic procession of exciting Forever Knight stories (one or two per day, depending on the number of players and the length of the stories). Game rules will remain the same as in 2012, but the rules-post text will be edited for clarity and lessons learned.

In the meantime, did you miss any of the stories in our past games? Try our Community Tags (LJ/DW), AO3 collection, 2012 Masterlist, 2011 Masterlist and 2010 Masterlist. (It's never too late for feedback!) Or try looking up your fellow FKFicFest community members (LJ/DW) and seeing what new FK fanfiction they may have posted elsewhere since last year.

Thank you all, again. I'm looking forward to playing FK with you this year!
